BUZZER

1. A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device.

2. It generates sound in a frequency range of 1 to 7 kHz as an audio indication. 3. In this frequency range, the hearing threshold is maximum.

4. Therefore, the sound of a buzzer is so piercing that it is noticeable even in a highly noisy environment.

5. The buzzers/beepers are generally used as sound alarms.

6. In many applications, they are used to give an audio indication in response to some action or event.

7. A buzzer can be used to produce the sound of a click, beep, or ringing.

8. Buzzers come in a variety of construction, size, and specifications.

TYPES OF BUZZER

1. Piezoelectric buzzers

2. Magnetic buzzers

3. Electromagnetic buzzers

4. Mechanical buzzers

5. Electromechanical buzzers

Piezoelectric and magnetic buzzers are most commonly used in electronic applications.

The buzzers are designed to be used as a transducer or indicator in any circuit.

1) Piezoelectric Buzzer

a) A piezoelectric buzzer operates on the principle of the piezoelectric effect.

b) The main component of a piezoelectric buzzer is a piezoelectric element.

c) The element is composed of a piezoelectric ceramic and a metal plate.

2) Magnetic Buzzers

a) In a magnetic buzzer, there is a ferromagnetic disc that is attached to a pole.

b) There are magnets around the pole which maintains the disc in a rest position.

c) There is a coil below the ferromagnetic disc that acts as an electromagnet.
